In this scene we can see the comparison between Dorothy and the munchkins as a representation of scale. The munchkins are around three quarters of Dorothy's size who is a little girl, when the tiny individuals are the adults. Also the bigger size of Dorothy symbolizes the respect and value the munchkins have for her.

Here the tin man is able to move again and he mentions to Dorothy and the scarecrow that "the tinsmith forgot to give [him] a heart". This scene is paradoxical because the three characters had what they needed since the beginning, even though the clock gave the tin man the ticking of the heart, it wasn't really sufficient for having one.

In this scene we can see the metaphorical comparison between the characters and the yellow road with the real world. Dorothy's shoes represent the belief that silver should be added to the monetary system to help farmers in their situation, and Dorothy herself represents the people and good things of the U.S. The tin man represents the industrial workers and the scarecrow symbolizes the prejudice the farmers are facing. Finally, the yellow brick road symbolizes the financial gold standard.
